FINDING DOIs

If you cannot find an article's DOI in a library database, use the free CrossRef DOI search.

Note: Not all articles have a DOI.

Finding DOIs in Library Databases

EBSCO Databases

  • The DOI is listed on the Detailed Record page (when you click the article's title from the search results).
  • If the Detailed Record doesn't have the DOI check the first page of the article.

ProQuest Databases

  • The DOI is listed at the top of the Full Text page (when you click the article's title from the search results).
  • If the Full Text page doesn't have the DOI check the first page of the article.

CrossRef free DOI Lookup

If you cannot find an article's DOI in a library database, use the free CrossRef DOI search.

Note: Not all articles have a DOI.

  • The default search is for journal articles.
  • In the Bibliographic metadata search, at a minimum, fill in the following information:
    • First author's name (last name works better)
    • Journal Title
    • Article Title
    • Volume, Issue, and Year
  • Click Search.
