ProQuest ABI/Inform Collection includes international coverage and provides researchers with a complete picture of companies and business trends around the world.

  • Business and economics full-text journals and periodicals

  • Country-and-industry-focused reports and downloadable data
  • Newspapers and news content

 

Databases included:

  • ABI/INFORM Dateline: has full-text regional titles useful in studying business. It specializes in hard-to-find regional business publications with news and analysis of local companies and markets.
  • ABI/INFORM Global: is one of the most comprehensive business databases on the market, offering the latest business and financial information for researchers at all levels. It includes in-depth coverage from thousands of publications, most of them in full-text. Users can find out about business conditions, management techniques, business trends, management practice and theory, corporate strategy and tactics, and competitive landscape. Includes ABI/INFORM Archive, which offers a deep back-file of many of the most important business journals of the last century.
  • ABI/INFORM Trade & Industry: contains in-depth coverage of companies, products, executives, trends, and other topics. Users can study and compare specific industries, including telecommunications, computing, transportation, construction, petrochemicals, and many others.

SEARCHING IN ABI/INFORM COLLECTION

 

  • Enter your keywords into the search boxes at the top of the screen. 
  • As you type, suggestions will come up. Use your own keywords or any database suggestions in your search. 
  • The default Anywhere option will search all fields in records as well as the full text. 
    • Use the dropdown menu to search specific fields.  For example, you can search just by title, author, or subject headings. 
  • The Limit to section under the search boxes has available filters. The most useful are:
    • Filter by Publication date. Especially useful if you see many older titles.
    • Filter by Full text. To only see articles available in full text. 
    • Filter by Peer reviewed. To see only peer-reviewed articles.  

 

 

 

 

 

NAVIGATING RESULTS 

 

  • Results are will be displayed by the Most recent firstYou can change the Sorted by dropdown to Relevance or Oldest first
  • You can filter sources by Source Type.

  • Click the Article's Title,  Full Text, or Full Text - PDF, (whichever is available or your preference).

SAVING, EMAILING, AND LINKING

 

ProQuest features several options for saving, printing, emailing, and linking to items. The options are in the top right corner of the page and generally are labeled in clear ways. 

  • Download PDF - Download the PDF version of the article. 
  • Cite - See suggested citations in APA and other formats. 
    • Note: There are always errors with computer-generated citations. Check for capitalization and other errors.
  • Email - The full text of the article will be emailed to you instead of downloaded to your computer. 
  • Print - Print an article.  
  • All Options 
    • Permanent link - The permanent link you can copy and save to revisit. This is the link you want to use if you are sharing a link in a discussion board.   
    • Save to My Research -  Add this item to your My Research folder. 
    • Google Drive - Save pages to your Google Drive. 
    • Citation Export - For power users, export the citations as a RIS file you can upload into Academic Writer or other citation managers.
